Taylor Swift Meets Child Hit By SUV

Taylor Swift honored a young fan at her September 21 concert in Nashville. The fan was seven-year-old Grace Markel, who was hit by an SUV on August 10 as she made her way to a Swift concert in Chicago, accompanied by her father.

The Colombia, MO native suffered skull fractures, a left orbital fracture, numerous head lacerations, a severe concussion and road rash over her face and body. She spent two days in the hospital before a long recuperation at home.

Swift reached out to Markel, offering her free tickets to the Nashville show and also met with her backstage before the concert.

"Taylor greeted Grace by her name and immediately knelt down and hugged her," Grace's mom, Amy Markel, told People magazine. "[The meeting] was just a warm and genuine exchange that made it feel like time has stopped, and it was just the two of them."
