Curb Records Suing Tim McGraw In Federal Court

Tim McGraw is once again in a legal battle with his former label Curb Records. The label has now filed a lawsuit against McGraw in a federal court alleging that both McGraw and his new label Big Machine Records have committed copyright infringement.

McGraw left Curb last year after a protracted legal battle over his final release, Emotional Traffic, on that label. McGraw finished the album ahead of the label's production schedule and they claimed that he merely handed it in early to get out of the remaining time left on his contract.

A Nashville judge ruled in McGraw's favor in the initial suit, releasing him from his deal with Curb. The label's new suit is requesting that a judge award them master recordings, compensatory and punitive damages in addition to an injunction that would prevent him from recording any new material for Big Machine.

Since parting ways with Curb, McGraw has put out one new album, Two Lanes of Freedom.
