Beyoncé And Jay-Z's Cuban Vacation Causes Ruckus

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have caused an uproar after it was discovered that they vacationed in Cuba.

The power couple flew to the Caribbean island, with which the US has a 51-year trade embargo and a tourism travel ban, last week to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary.

When news of the trip and photographs of Jay-Z and Bey shaking hands with Cuban citizens broke, however, several members of Congress questioned whether the couple had obtained the necessary documents and US government permission to travel to the island. In a statement, Florida Republican Congress members Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart explained:

"Cuba's tourism industry is wholly state-controlled; therefore, US dollars spent on Cuban tourism directly fund the machinery of oppression that brutally represses the Cuban people."

However, PerezHilton, speaking with a local waitress, found that the locals appreciated the visit:

"She was beautiful, without a drop of makeup, very natural. What happened with the people was incredible," said waitress Silvia Fernandez.
