Lenny Kravitz Exits Marvin Gaye Biopic

Lenny Kravitz has reportedly dropped out of the upcoming Marvin Gaye biopic, Sexual Healing. The film is in development and features director Julien Temple behind the camera, who helmed the Sex Pistols film The Great Rock N' Roll Swindle and 2006's Glastonbury.

So far, there is no word on why Lenny dropped out of the project, but NME reports that Law and Order actor Jesse L. Martin has quickly snapped up the lead role. The move comes after Gaye's son, Marvin Gaye III, reportedly threatened to sue Kravitz if he appeared in the film.

Speaking with Spinner, Gaye explained his opposition to the project:

"The producers and directors of this film are very wrong and shameful . . . [They're] trying to do a film about a low period in his life. They don't even know the whole story."
