Natalie Maines Compares Country Music To An 'Abusive Husband'

Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines, in a red carpet interview with CMT's Katie Cook at the Bruce Springsteen MusicCares concert last week, said that returning to a career in country music would be "like going back to your abusive husband."

After Maines laughed off the comment, Cook responded: "We won't hit you anymore," to which Maines replied, "Ah, yeah right. That's what they all say."

In a previous interview, she explained the band's future was forever altered with the backlash following their comments regarding President George W. Bush.

At the time, Maines said she was "ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas" during a show in London, leading to threats against the band's safety.

The Chicks will reunite this summer for two festival dates.
