Prince Sues Collection Agency After It Takes $116,000 From Him
Prince has filed a lawsuit against Capital Asset Protection, a debt collection agency that he claims unlawfully swiped more than $100,000 from his bank account.
According to TMZ, CAP was collecting the money for a lawsuit Prince previously lost over a music production contract. CAP proceeded to make two withdrawals from Prince's bank account in June - one for $105,949.14, and another for $10,278.94.
Lawyers for Prince say that the original judgment was dropped in October 2011, nullifying the lawsuit that Prince lost, and as such, negated the sum Prince owed to the production company.
Prince is seeking the return of the full amount plus interest. According to USA Today, the "Purple Rain" singer has a net worth of between $100 million and $250 million.
